Welcome to Alpine Fly Fishers

History:

Alpine Fly Fishers was organized in the spring of 1973 by some fly fishing enthusiasts who wanted more from the sport of fly fishing. The club now consists of approximately 45 individuals who meet regularly to promote and enjoy the great sport of fly fishing. The Club is a Charter club of the International Federation of Fly Fishers (note that the FFF is now the IFFF) and a member of the Washington State Council Federation of Fly Fishers. Come fish with us ... the waters beckon.

Activities:

Alpine Fly Fishers participate in many areas of the sport of fly fishing and fish conservation:

  • Fishing Reports
  • Casting Clinics
  • Midnight Fishing Trips
  • Deschutes River Trip
  • Fly Tying Clinics
  • Environmental Projects
  • Conservation Studies
  • Public Education

Meetings:

Next Meeting: Tuesday June 16th, 2015 - Note - 3rd Tuesday time change

Annual AFF PIcnic - Stephen and Terry Neil's Home -

This is a pot luck, bring your favorite dish be it a main meal, side dish, salad, or dessert. We will end up with a wide selection of items. The club will furnish some KFC and a couple Pizza Hut pizzas.  Larry will be bringing a fairly large dish of homemade lasagna. Remember to BYOBeverage! There will be lots of time to share stories and future fishing plans. There will also be a "Fly Fishing Garage Sale" offering. Bring any items you wish to sell for other members to browse and buy. 1/2 the sale price will go to the clubs treasury and 1/2 goes to you. A nice way to help out the club and fund out speakers as well as clean out useful duplicate gear that others might need. Maps to the Neil's home were distributed at the May meeting. Call for directions.

As usual there will be no meetings during the summer months of July and August - Happy fishing! See you again in September.

Usual Meeting place - Puerto Vallarta Restaurant

Alpine Fly Fishers meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month. The meetings will be informal during the months of July and August with no planned speakers. Evening events consist of socializing, member reports of recent outings, dinner, followed by a fly fishing equipment raffle and an educational program. Past programs have included speakers such as Darrell Martin, John Shewey, Trey Combs, and Mike Maxwell as well as many local guides, outfitters, biologists, and fisheries experts. The membership is diverse in its fishing interests, friendly, and within it lies a great deal of knowledge of the sport. Most of us live in the Puyallup, Tacoma, Auburn, and Enumclaw areas. Please come to our meeting and join in the fun. We often bring our own young fly fishers to the meetings and they are welcome to attend.

May Program:

May's program - Rocky Mountain Fly Highway!
