Welcome to Alpine Fly Fishers

History:

Alpine Fly Fishers was organized in the spring of 1973 by some fly fishing enthusiasts who wanted more from the sport of fly fishing. The club now consists of approximately 30 individuals who meet regularly to promote and enjoy the great sport of fly fishing. The Club is an affiliate chapter of the Federation of Fly Fishers and a member of the Washington State Council Federation of Fly Fishers. Come fish with us ... the waters beckon.

Meeting place - NEW! AGAIN!!! (May 2009) - June meeting cancelled

History: A fire at Took place at Nifty's and so the club had to move in February 2009. We thought we had a great location at Johnny's Bar and Grill but they decided to renovate and tear down the walls to the meeting room, making it impossible to hold a meeting. In a quick shuffle by President Larry Gibbs and Vice President Bruce Everett on the night of the May meeting (when we found out about the renovation) we met at Mama Stortini's for the May meeting. Thanks to all the fellow club members who helped re-direct the members to Mama Stortini's and to Mama Stortini's for providing us a temporary meeting facility. Because of this ... the June meeting was cancelled as we looked once again look for a new location, and have found one at the Puerto Vallarta Restaurant in Puyallup. Have a great summer and stay in touch with one another. Stay tuned to this website and the Yahoo! Bulletin Board.

New Meeting Site has been found!!! We are locked in at the Puerto Vallarta Restaurant through this year and all of next year (2010).

Alpine Fly Fishers meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month. The meetings will be informal during the months of July and August with no planned speakers. Evening events consist of socializing, member reports of recent outings, dinner, followed by a fly fishing equipment raffle and an educational program. Past programs have included speakers such as Darrell Martin, John Shewey, Trey Combs, and Mike Maxwell as well as many local guides, outfitters, biologists, and fisheries experts. The membership is diverse in its fishing interests, friendly, and within it lies a great deal of knowledge of the sport. Most of us live in the Puyallup, Tacoma, Auburn, and Enumclaw areas. Please come to our meeting and join in the fun. We often bring our own young fly fishers to the meetings and they are welcome to attend.

May Meeting ... wrapup

David Williams on fishing for Bluegills and Crappie

David gave us a great talk to us about fishing for Panfish in Washington and Oregon, showing us some pictures and bestowing upon us some great knowledge. We were able to coax another presentation from David on Alpine lakes ... THANKS David ... he will be back again in the fall!
