Outings

Here we will post various club outings and possibly sign up forms if needed.

If you are interested in leading an outing ... please contact me so I can post it to this page.

Teal Lake Outing - May 10th.

This is a real opportunity to take some decent size rainbows on flies. Those of us who have fished this lake before have caught several over 20". These are rainbows, not triplods.   The hatches on this water when they come are generally very prolific and when that happens fish are rising every where.

 Fly sizes 16-20.

Duns, blue wing olives, caddis, midges, wulf patterns, any thing you have done well on the west side lakes will probably do well here.
Chronomids - Red generally works well in the spring here. I fished Tanawax opening day & the fish were full of red & or black larva.
San Juan Worms, wooly-buggers, wooly-worms, etc.

I will be at the launch at 7:00 AM for questions & at 9:00 AM you are on your own as I will be in the water.
Float tubes or pontoon boats are recommended as restricted gear rules apply.
Heavier craft will have to be hauled down a 4-5 foot wide path to launch for about 60 feet.

Don't forget, there is a toll coming back across the Narrows Bridge.

Directions From I-5 In Tacoma:

Turn onto Hwy 16 from I-5 & go 29 miles
Turn left on Hwy 3 & go 24 miles
Turn left on Hwy 104(crossing the canal bridge) & go 4 miles
Turn right on Teal Lake Road & go 1.9 miles
Parking entrance is on left.
If you hit the intersection, you went 20 yards to far.

Thanks for your attention & see you there- Bill Fox

Pack Trip to Pasayten Lakes Wilderness - July 2009Alpine Lakes

Here are the details on the proposed fly fishing trip to the Alpine Lakes near the Canadian boarder.:

The outfitter is Cascade Wilderness Outfitters with Less and Steve Darwood located out of Methow Valley area 1-509-997-0155.

  1. Maximum number is 10. we currently have 5 signed up:  Alston, Egge, Aubrey, Wenzen, Fishback
  2. Best dates are mid July 2009 and for the next month. They say that a great time is mid July when snow comes off the lakes and fish are very hungry and eager
  3. Each person is allowed 150# gear; the ride in is around 18 miles into a series of remote lakes in the Pasayten wilderness( just south of the Canadian border)
  4. Length of trip is variable depending on our wishes…they recommend 4-6days fishing, plus a day to pack in and a day to pack out.
  5. We need to choose between 2 trip types:
    1. Drop Camp. Cost is a flat $475  a person. They pack us in on horseback to our destination and return at the time of our choosing to pick us up. We supply everything but transportation. We would divide up food costs and make each person responsible for their own tent and have joint cooking supplies/ toilet , etc. We would need to take day hikes with our gear to the various lakes in the area( 2-5 miles).
    2. Deluxe Trip: Cost $195 per person PER DAY( not including tip). They supply everything except sleeping bag. They provide camp tents, all the food, and do all the cooking. Plus they take us by horseback to the different lakes, allowing us access to a few more lakes that we would have trouble reaching by foot. If we pack in 1 day, fish a full 4  days, and pack out 1 day cost would be $1200 or so.

Note none of the above $ figures include: guide tips / carpool gas to get there / pre-post trip hotel night / liquor

You will need Rod/Reel/Personal Items/ Float Tube or Inflatable Watercraft/Flies .... we will discuss all this as the trip takes shape.
